Internet Connection In Pattaya

If you are staying in Pattaya and you cannot live without the internet for watching Youtube, shopping online or communicating with relatives back home then this article should be very useful for you. I have experience with using internet at hotels and also at condominium complexes, for example, at the large chain hotels you can purchase a password for their WiFi system for as little as ฿200 baht a day ($8).

You will soon realize that paying by the day becomes expensive so you might want to consider paying monthly or even for 3 months which is on offer at the condominiums but not at the hotels that I am aware of and I doubt many people stay for more than a month at hotels anyway. Remember that internet connection is not perfect in Thailand and they even have power outages for short periods of time in Pattaya so you might want to consider buying what is known as a Aircard Dongle (See Below).

Internet Dongles generally plugin to your computer via USB and come in different shapes and speeds, at present you should ask for at least 3G+ or 4G for fast roaming when connecting to the web on the go or in your Thailand accommodation. I recommend that you also invest in a LAN connection USB also since you will get a stronger signal on shared WIFI connections around your apartment complex.

Simple dongles can be bought for as little as $80 and use a cellphone SIM card that you top up at the 7 Elevens/Family Mart all around Pattaya, however, remember than when you use these aircard’s it soon becomes expensive when you watch lots of movies on Youtube or other streaming sites. You might want to consider buying a faster MiFi aircard and buying credit for the TRUE WiFi network, they have hotspots everywhere around the city and you don’t have to keep topping up everyday.

Remember that as long as you have 2 back up’s (Wifi and Dongle) you should be OK if there is any downtime, the only other course of action is to have a private internet connection and router installed in your accommodation which can be a bit of a pain since you have to try and explain to Thai companies what you desire and it can be expensive with installation fees and you still have a monthly fee of around  ฿500-1500.
